Patent translation is one of the most technically demanding translation fields. Claims must be accurate to the word because they define the legal scope of protection. A mistranslated claim can invalidate a patent or narrow its scope in ways that no longer reflect the inventor's intent. We translate patent claims, descriptions, abstracts, drawings legends, and prior art references. We handle PCT filings for WIPO and national phase entries in Spain, France, Germany, Portugal, Italy, the UK, and the United States. We also translate foreign patent documents for FTO searches, validity opinions, and patent prosecution. All patent translations are handled by translators with technical backgrounds in the relevant field. Chemistry patents go to chemists.
